Nostalgia time.

I remember when going to the Zoo was a cheap way to spend the day.

Of course, my perspective might be a little skewed. Grandma always got the family a Zoo Membership for Christmas.

I loved the Louisville Zoo. It was always adding new stuff, and there were tons of big cats, and when I was really young there were Elephant and Camel rides.

I remember spending ages by the wolf enclosure, trying to spot the wolves. Never did see them, not in the 18 years I used to go. I'm not sure they actually existed.

I loved Halloween at the Zoo. It was where we'd test out our Halloween costumes and score extra candy. And it was the one time of the year when we'd get to ride the Zoo's train (also the one time of the year when the train was interesting, cause they'd put up all this nifty stuff and the Headless Horseman would ride along side).

I tried to go to the local Zoo today. I saved up my 'extras' money, and I had the day off.

And I didn't have enough money to pay my way in.

It sometimes surprises people that I like things like zoos. I'm not much for the outdoors, or exersize, or places that smell like pee. But I love zoos, which involve all three.
